Next week, CareerBuilder will feature Find Your Calling at a special youth initiative during the CareerBuilder Challenge (formerly the Bob Hope Classic) in the PGA Tour in La Quinta. After a successful debut last year, CareerBuilder is pleased to once again introduce Find Your Calling to local youths as a tool for planning education and careers.
Find Your Calling, a free website developed by Emsi and CareerBuilder, begins with an easy Discovery Questionnaire where students record their responses to various jobs and activities: love, hate, or in the middle. It then shows numerous occupations that match their interests—a huge eye-opener for many students—plus wages, required education, and schools across the US that offer relevant programs.
“Many young people are unaware of jobs that are in high-demand, pay well, and are aligned with what they’re passionate about,” said CareerBuilder CEO Matt Ferguson. “Find Your Calling is our way to help solve the youth unemployment problem in the US and replace guesswork with eye-opening data needed to choose the right career.”
The CareerBuilder Classic is just one event where CareerBuilder has helped the youths of Coachella Valley. Last October, in conjunction with the CareerBuilder Challenge, the employment company also demoed Find Your Calling at all seven Boys & Girls Clubs across the Coachella Valley—from Palm Springs to Mecca—and helped hundreds of kids plan successful futures.
“[CareerBuilder and Emsi] have done an amazing job of collecting data from thousands and thousands of people in the job market,” said executive director Scott Robinson at the Boys and Girls Club of Cathedral City. “They [created] this amazing database for kids to go on and learn about [finding] their calling in the career world.”
